St. Francis de Sales Crew Neck
Who is St. Francis de Sales?
St. Francis de Sales is a really amazing saint. He is recognized as a Doctor of the Church, a title only given to 38 saints! St. Francis grew up in a household of high nobility in the 1500s and was expected to be successful in politics or law. However, his heart yearned for God and he became a priest instead, and then later became the Bishop of Geneva. St Francis wrote multiple books to help people defend and better understand the Catholic faith. He even invented a personal sign language to teach a deaf man about Christ.
His ministry was during the protestant reformation, making his writings all the more crucial. His work is responsible for bringing at least 40,000 people back to the faith. Despite living in a time where people were denying Catholicism, St. Francis stood firm on his beliefs and bloomed where he was planted.
St. Francis's life exemplified the famous quote "bloom where you are planted," and so can yours. God has placed you in this time, wherever you are, for a reason. You can make a difference.
"Truly charity has no limit; for the love of God has been poured into our hearts by His Spirit dwelling in each one of us, calling us to a life of devotion and inviting us to bloom in the garden where He has planted and directing us to radiate the beauty and spread the fragrance of His Providence." -St. Francis de Sales (1567-1622)
St. Francis de Sales, patron saint of writers, journalists, and the deaf, pray for us!
