Who is St. Gianna Molla?

St. Gianna Molla was a doctor, wife, and mother; it was in motherhood that she faced her greatest challenge. In 1961, she became pregnant with her fourth child, but her baby was not the only thing growing in her womb. Alongside the baby was a tumor, which removal of would seriously compromise her health. Alternatively, an abortion or hysterectomy would preserve her life, but not her child's. Devoted to her faith and knowing that life in the womb is sacred, she opted for the removal of the tumor, in turn saving her baby. A week after delivering a healthy girl, Gianna tragically passed away from sepsis.

St. Gianna's life is a perfect example of following God no matter the cost. Her heroic sacrifice for the life of another is the pinnacle of love. She lived out Jesus's words when He said, "No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."

Her quote, "whatever God wants" mimics Jesus's agony in the garden. After pleading with His Father to let this cup pass, He concluded His prayer saying, "not my will but yours be done." St. Gianna was selfless in her last days, sincerely desiring whatever God wanted.

This shirt is a great reminder and witness to others that God's will is the most important; that no matter what challenges life throws our way, we can take solace in the fact that nothing happens without God permitting it.
