Alternatively, an abortion or hysterectomy would preserve her life, but not her child's. Devoted to her faith and knowing that life in the womb is sacred, she opted for the removal of the tumor, in turn saving her baby. A week after delivering a healthy girl, Gianna tragically passed away from sepsis.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eSt. Gianna's life is a perfect example of following God no matter the cost. Her heroic sacrifice for the life of another is the pinnacle of love. She lived out Jesus's words when He said, \"No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.\"\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHer quote, \"whatever God wants\" mimics Jesus's agony in the garden.
